Our 1st Annual Halloween Celebrations throughout SD167 were so much fun! We kicked things off on October 26 at Longwood with a little Trick-or-Treating through the school. Students got to stop at Art, Gym, Music, Library, and the Office. Huge thank yous to Mr. Hughes, Mr. Coffey, Mr. Herald, Ms. Jenkins, and Dr. Patterson for dressing up and helping us pass out candy :) Our big event was the Halloween Dance (also on the 26th) for our 5th through 8th Grade students. The kids had a great time and there were some awesome costumes! We'd like to send a special thanks to our principals Mrs. Pierce, Mrs. Larson; our teachers and office staff Ms. Marcus, Mr. Nagler, Ms. Cluff, Ms. Griffin, Mrs. Johnson, Ms. Thornton and her decorating committee, Ms. Gatherings; to our parent volunteers Mr. & Mrs. Hudson & their mother, Ms. Knox, Ms. Jones, Ms. Rife, and Ms. Conda and other parents and teachers who came and stayed, DJ Mr. Fola, and thank you to our Districts Janitorial Staff. Another special thanks to our amazing Superintendent for allowing us to put these events on for the students. Thank you, MS. BETHANY LINDSAY!!!!!! And last but not least our sponsors; Clover Leaf Farms and Preferred Meals! Without even one of you, this event couldn't have happened!
We finished up our last event on Halloween with a themed story and craft for our AM and PM Pre-K students. We read the story "Popcorn" by Frank Asch then created our own big, black pots overflowing with popcorn pictures based on the iconic image from the story. What a fine bunch of little creatives we have in SD167! Thank you so much to Mrs. Simon and Mrs. Kelleher (as well as Ms. Alm and Ms. LaMalle) for all your help and allowing us to bring some extra holiday havoc to your classes :)
